Artist Spotlight w/ Lisa Ditkovskaya

May 30, 2023

First, can you tell us a bit about yourself?

My name is Lisa and I'm a digital illustrator, concept artist, and storyboard artist.

My passion is stories behind concepts or illustrations. I think that’s important to add meaning and soul to it.

When I’m not working, I really love spending time traveling, decorating my home, crafting, growing, and drawing plants.

Now I’m always on the move and I need to combine a new place with work, stay productive, and keep a work-life balance. What I'm doing for this is trying to follow a schedule, take breaks, and don’t forget to eat.

Can you tell us about your experience and the role you are primarily filling?

Some years ago I became interested in illustration in animation and how cartoons and videos are created. I was very inspired! That influenced me and my decision to do that professionally. I always love stories and this is the best way to tell them.

My recent job was as a graphic designer and illustrator in the motion design team in the pre-production and production stages of creating promo videos. I devoted quite a lot of time to storyboarding and creating concepts.

Now I travel all around the world and scenes from my real life and what is happening around me often become concepts in my works.

If you could speak directly to the resourcing gods and powers that be, what would be your ideal project?

The ideal project for me is a creative and useful project, that influences people’s emotions, where I can express myself and use my skills, where people value what you’re doing, and work with professionals to get an unforgettable experience.

The ideal project can’t be without people working on it.

Do you have any dream clients?

Netflix, Sony Animation, Buck, Petrick.

Lastly, do you have any memorable stories, life lessons, or tall tales you can share from your adventures as a freelancer?

I would like to tell you about my work experience while I’m traveling.

Now I’m always on the move and I need to combine a new place with work, stay productive, and keep a work-life balance. What I'm doing for this is trying to follow a schedule, take breaks, and don’t forget to eat.

But the most important thing that doesn’t let me turn down opportunities is physical activity and going out. Now for me, that’s surfing and walking in new places.

That helps me to switch, to be in good shape, and not mope.
